SPONSORED BY:
Dahil dito itinuturing ang Laos bilang "the most heavily bombed country" per capita.

Palace on WHO report: Duterte doing his best

Palace on WHO report: Duterte doing his best

We are not perfect – Roque
MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has urged critics to stop politicking while the country is grappling with the pandemic, Malacañang said yesterday, as it disputed a World Health Organization (WHO) report that the Philippines has the fastest increase in infections in the Western Pacific.

Palace spokesman Harry Roque Jr. said the President was doing his best and that while the government’s response to coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 was not perfect, the health crisis remains under control.

“Did the government make the right move? Our answer is yes. We are not perfect. Perhaps we could have done better. But we are already here and one thing I can assure you, the President did the very best that he can and we are in control of the situation,” he said at a press briefing.
“You know, the President only has one message – stop politics during COVID-19. But criticisms continue to be hurled at us and we have to respond to them. They said there are shortcomings. We asked them what they are... but they did not give any,” he added.

Roque said quarantine measures, including lockdowns, have spared the country from having to deal with 3.6 million COVID-19 cases. “We imposed an enhanced community quarantine and the growth of the cases slowed and we are capable of treating those who are sick.”

The government also disputed WHO data stating that the Philippines has the fastest increase in COVID-19 cases in the Western Pacific.

“We beg to disagree. If you look at the increase in the number of cases, it should be in relation to your population. Why compare it to Singapore, which has (a population of) five million? It’s just as big as one city,” Roque said.

He claimed the Philippines would only be sixth behind India (549,197 cases), Pakistan (202,955 cases), Bangladesh (137,787), Indonesia (54,010) and Singapore (43,459) if one divides the cases with the population.

“It is clear that data do not lie. We are not the country with the fastest increase in the number of cases in the Western Pacific region. We will let the data respond to the report of WHO,” he stressed.

When asked why he included India, Pakistan and Bangladesh in his statement even if they are not in Western Pacific, Roque replied: “Well, I’m not going to go nitpicking on this but as far as I know, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are still Asian countries. If you look at the WHO, I think—we checked this and in the data of the WHO, they are classified as Western Pacific countries.”

A check with the WHO Regional Office website showed that the three countries were not listed among Western Pacific countries.

According to WHO data, the Philippines had 8,143 new cases from June 16 to June 27, the highest among 22 countries in Western Pacific. It was followed by Singapore with 2,351 new cases, and China with 302 in the same period.
The Department of Health (DOH) has said that the Philippines’ socioeconomic context, living conditions and health system capacity are different from those of Singapore.

“Please take that into account when we do our analysis. Let us not cherry pick the countries we want to compare ourselves to,” the DOH said in a statement last Sunday.

Roque admitted that the government cannot completely slow down the spread of the virus without a vaccine but that the government is ensuring that it has enough capacity to provide medical care to those who will get sick.

“I’d like to point out that the figures that we reported as of today of around 35,000 is lower than the UP (University of the Philippines) prediction of 40,000 and have urged our countrymen to prove the UP data wrong and we did because they predicted (40,000), we have 35 (thousand),” he said.

Minguita Padilla, medical team chief of Project Antibody Rapid Test Kits (ARK), agreed that the quarantine measures imposed by the government are working. She said 91 to 92 percent of the persons tested by their project tested negative for the virus.

“Now, it’s about a very small percentage that is positive – about six percent. It jibes with PCR tests of the DOH... Most of them are really mostly negative and asymptomatic. It’s a good sign that whatever we did has worked. It’s not that high even in very crowded municipalities and districts of Metro Manila,” Padilla said.

Duterte is expected to announce his decision on the classification of areas under community quarantine today.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año also defended the government, saying the cases were increasing because of the ramped-up testing efforts.

“Yes, as we increased our testing capacities, actually we expected that more positive will turn out but if we will look at the positivity rate, we are about five to six percent… our target is to go to around three percent and probably one percent,” Año said in an interview aired over ANC.

He claimed that if the Philippines did not implement lockdowns and strict quarantine measures, research projections positing an infection of at least 3 million people and 200,000 deaths could have materialized.

“So you see, we are doing good compared to other countries like the United States, Brazil. Somehow we are able to contain the spread of the virus in the whole country,” Año added.

Nationwide, there are over 35,000 COVID-19 cases of which 1,244 have died and 9,686 have recovered.

Shape up
In the light of the WHO data, senators urged the DOH to shape up and work faster in containing the spread of COVID-19.

Senate President Vicente Sotto III pointed to the “delay in actions and responses” of the DOH to respond to the pandemic that led to the surge in new cases.

“That includes contact tracing and aggressive research on medications,” Sotto said.

Sen. Christopher Go, who chairs the committee on health, reiterated his call for the DOH to improve its “test, trace and treat strategy.”

“While the cases of COVID-19 continue to go up, the quarantine, contact tracing, and treatment capabilities must also keep up,” Go said, adding that the government must find ways to fund the programs aimed at containing COVID-19, saving jobs, and helping the economy recover.

Sen. Sonny Angara reminded concerned agencies and the general public to be extra vigilant and careful “since we are emerging from the lockdown and relaxing quarantine protocols.”

“There are greater risks for infection. Again the methods to reduce these risks are well established- distancing, wearing masks, testing and contact tracing. Undoubtedly there is still room for improvement,” Angara said.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson also lamented the WHO’s assessment, which was somewhat expected.
“What is there to expect? The DOH being the government’s lead agency has been mishandling the pandemic, even misleading us to believe that everything has been under control from the start,” Lacson said.

“But then, the WHO has likewise lost much credibility in its overall handling of the coronavirus particularly in its flip flopping medical bulletins and advisories,” he said.

He said the DOH’s shortcomings were worsened by President Duterte’s “almost blanket trust and confidence on (Health) Secretary (Francisco) Duque III.”

Sen. Imee Marcos is pushing for the creation of a more compact group for a more focused government direction on how to contain the spread of COVID-19 while Sen. Leila de Lima called for an investigation on the DOH failure on contact tracing. Neil Jayson Servallos, Paolo Romero, Cecille Suerte Felipe

Celebrities, netizens reacts to proposed name change of NAIA

Celebrities, netizens reacts to proposed name change of NAIA

Filipinos were caught by surprise on June 25 after a bill to rename the NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport) was filed at the House of Representatives.

The move was made by three  congressmen, Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco, ACT-CIS Representative Eric Yap, and presidential son and Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte.
The three stated that since the NAIA is the center of international gateway it is identified as belonging to the Philippines, thus it should be renamed to ‘Paliparang Pandaigdig ng Pilipinas.’
They said, “With the proposed name, the airport will easily be identified as the international doorway of the country, in view of it being in Filipino language and branding it as the international airport of the Philippines,”

However, the bill was criticized by many and even celebrities voiced out their sentiments on the untimely filing of such a bill knowing that the country is still suffering from the pandemic.
K Brosas slammed the government as she questioned their priorities.

Alessandra de Rossi made a sarcastic comment that this might help resolve the pandemic crisis and hunger.

Edwin Lacierda also ironically questioned what Ninoy Aquino has done to the pandemic to cause the removal of his name, knowing that it was tagged as a symbol for being known as an opposition leader.
Dr. Gia Sison angrily reminded the government that the country is still facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jasmine Curtis, Erwan Heussaff, Kakie Pangilinan, and others also expressed their contradictions regarding the bill.
A netizen even pointed out that changing airport names involves expenses, and knowingly president Rodrigo Duterte had said that the budget for the pandemic is tight but maybe a budget was set aside for this, he jokingly posted.
Another netizen also thinks that it should be said in English NAP (National Airport of the Philippines) or better yet ‘No Action Plan.’

To know which new name is more suitable to netizens the Lionheartv team made a poll on whether PAPAPI (Paliparang Pandaigdig ng Pilipinas) or PIA (Philippine International Airport) would be a better replacement.

And the results showed that more are in favor of naming the airport PIA rather than the proposed PAPAPI by congress.

But still, the majority criticized the bill for its untimely proposal since the country is still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and also dropping the name of Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. is like taking away a symbolic inspiration that would remind Filipinos about the democratic movement and it as well violates a sense of history.

US, China spar over the Philippines

US, China spar over the Philippines

The fishermen of Masinloc and Sta. Cruz, Zambales had fished the Scarborough Shoal for generations. In the past several years, Filipino fishing boats had been harassed and prevented from fishing near the fish-rich shoal by incursions of Chinese fishing and militia boats.

In June 2019, a Chinese militia ship sank a Filipino boat in the South China Sea in an act of aggression that left the Philippines looking weak and powerless. The Chinese Navy has boldly sailed its aircraft carrier and escort ships through the Philippines’ Sibutu Passage without prior permission, violating Philippine sovereignty. China is claiming almost all of the territory of the South China Sea that includes the West Philippine Sea within the nine-dash line that it has drawn around the edge of the South China Sea.

The Scarborough Shoal, the Spratlys and Pag-asa groups of islands and other islands are well within the Philippines’ 12-nautical mile territorial sea and the 200-nautical mile exclusive economic zone. In the face of Chinese claims, this right has been upheld by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. In a historic decision, the court declared “there was no legal basis for China to claim historic rights to resources within the sea areas falling within the ‘nine-dash line.” “Having found that none of the features claimed by China was capable of generating an exclusive economic zone, the tribunal found that it could — without delimiting a boundary — declare that certain sea areas are within the exclusive economic zone of the Philippines, because those areas are not overlapped by any possible entitlement of China.”

China does not recognize the international arbitration decision and did not attend the hearings. Instead, it continued to build up its military power on several islands claimed by the Philippines, installing long-range surface to air missiles and building structures and aircraft runways. In a belated response, the Philippines began in 2020 to build up infrastructure on Pag-asa Island, one of its biggest inhabited islands on the Spratly Islands.
Despite Chinese objections, after two years of delay, the Philippines has built a landing ramp and a wharf for small ships to dock and land equipment to pave the existing 1.2-kilometer dirt runway.  Pag-asa Island is just 26 kilometers northeast of the Subi Reef, now a large Chinese military installation (one of several) on a man-made island and armed to the teeth but is within Philippines territorial waters.

The Chinese send their warships through Philippine territorial waters as if they own them.

In 2018, 35 Chinese naval ships traversed Philippine territorial waters without prior permission, which is a violation of Philippine sovereignty. The Philippine defense department said that in 2018, as many as 434 Chinese ships sailed through Philippine waters without prior notice and in 2019, the number was 389 ships. For sure, the source of this information is from the United States Navy, which keeps a close watch on all ship movements in the region.

The US has sent its warships past the islands claimed by the Chinese to establish that they are in international waters and they have the “freedom of navigation.” They are challenging the naval might of the Chinese Navy that cannot thwart them without starting World War 3.

The Chinese taunting of the Philippines and probing of the US response is a very serious problem for the Philippines. The country is caught in the middle of a global power struggle.

The Chinese claim the area by “power of possession.” It is an adverse and illegal possession by international law, which they ignore. The Philippines is powerless to stop them and the US will not intervene. It is as if China is annexing Philippine territory. The Chinese will benefit by drilling for oil and mining minerals in the ocean’s depths and the Philippines will lose its rightful natural resources. So it is not just the hundreds of tons of fish that the Chinese are taking every day from Philippine waters but soon they will be exploiting the rest of the Philippine natural resources.  In  2016, the Philippine government put aside these concerns and entered into a new relationship of friendship with China and took out huge loans from the Chinese government, creating a debt bondage relationship.

The only check to the powerful Chinese Navy is the US, ruler of the waves in the Asian region for decades and is still a force to be reckoned with. The US lost access to its huge military bases in the Philippines in 1992.This was caused by the Mount Pinatubo eruption in 1991, diplomatic blunders and a strong social and human rights campaign by nongovernment organizations. Started and led by Preda Foundation, they campaigned successfully to convert the bases to Filipino civilian use because of the sexual exploitation of women and children in the huge military-driven sex industry.
On May 27, 1999, the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) came into force. This allows the US access to Philippine airfields and navy ships to dock in Philippine ports. There are three at present at Subic Bay. On Feb. 11, 2020, however, the Philippine government suddenly announced the termination of the VFA, causing consternation in Washington because of the denial of a US visa to a political ally of President Rodrigo Duterte. The termination was due to take effect on Aug. 11, 2020. The Chinese were delighted, always seeking ways to lure allies away from the US and weaken the US military presence in the Asian-Pacific region.

But, Filipinos with millions of relatives in the United States and thousands planning to join them much prefer the pact with the US than a deal with the Chinese Liberation Army.

So on June 3, 2020, Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. announced that the Philippine government would extend the VFA at least until the end of the year. This may be to counter the dominating Chinese presence or a negotiating tactic to wring more concessions from the US. Only time will tell.

De Lima: Move to rename NAIA is product of politics, stupidity

De Lima: Move to rename NAIA is product of politics, stupidity

Senator Leila de Lima on Saturday said "politics" and "stupidity" were to blame for moves from the House Representatives to rename the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to the Paliparang Pandaigdig ng Pilipinas (PPP).

De Lima issued the statement in response to House Bill 7031, which sought the name change and was filed by Presidential son Deputy Speaker Paolo Duterte, ACT-CIS party-list Representative Eric Yap, and Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco.

"Ano na namang kabalbalan ito? The lawmakers pushing for it has a distorted sense of nationalism, if at all," said De Lima, a staunch critic of the Duterte administration who was sent to jail over drug charges which she has repeatedly insisted were trumped up.
De Lima said the proposal was "devoid of any salutary objective.... [and] plain and simple politics. And stupidity."

In filing their proposed measure, Duterte stressed the need for a more representative branding for the country's international gateway.

He said that aside from bearing the country's name, their proposed name of Paliparang Pandaigdig ng Pilipinas is also in the Philippines' national language.

For his part, Velasco said that their proposal seeks to reposition the Philippines as a choice destination for tourists, especially when the country reopens its borders for travelers once the COVID-19 crisis is over.

Yap, meanwhile, said that they want returning Filipinos or balikbayans and foreign tourists alike to see the name of the country right away once their flights land at the airport, making them feel at home.

The original name of the airport was Manila International Airport, but in 1987, during the administration of the late President Corazon Aquino, it was renamed NAIA through Republic Act 6639, in honor of her husband and former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr.
Ninoy was assassinated at this airport on August 21, 1983 after a three-year exile in the United States.

His death sparked various protests leading up to the first EDSA People Power Revolution in 1986, during which the Marcos family fled the Philippines to Hawaii and Corazon was catapulted to the presidency.

De Lima belongs to the Liberal Party, the former ruling party from 2010 to 2016 that counts as among its members the Aquino couple's son and eventual President Benigno Aquino III, Duterte's predecessor.

Hocus-pocus in the 2nd tranche SAP distribution?

Hocus-pocus in the 2nd tranche SAP distribution?

IF the money in the second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) does not reach the beneficiaries on time, blame the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

The distribution of the first tranche of SAP was chaotic as it was coursed through local government units whose leaders either skimmed money from beneficiaries or played favorites.

The distribution of the second tranche to be done through private outlets is expected to be easy and honest.

The DSWD and the BSP have awarded the contract to distribute the second tranche to three mobile payments systems — Paymaya, GCash and UnionBank.
Two other leading payment systems, Starpay and USSC, which have many more outlets than the three chosen outlets combined, were left out.

Consider: In Metro Manila, Paymaya has 103 outlets; GCash, 165; and UnionBank, 245—a total of 513 outlets.

On the other hand, Starpay and USSC combined have a total of 1,916 outlets in Metro Manila alone. USSC runs the reputable Western Union.

What made the DSWD and the BSP choose Paymaya, which is owned by Manuel V. Pangilinan; GCash, which is owned by the Ayalas; and Unionbank of the Aboitizes?

Starpay is owned by Dennis Uy while USSC is owned by Jose Xavier Gonzales.
The BSP recommended the three outlets, and the DSWD followed the recommendation.

My sources at the DSWD said, “money changed hands” in the choice of the outlets, either at the BSP or DSWD.

Subordinates of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rolando Bautista favored Starpay and USSC to distribute the second tranche.

Bautista, however, denied the accusation of bribery in the choice of Paymaya, GCash and UnionBank.

“I am not aware of any money changing hands because it is the BSP who (sic) formulated the matrix for distribution which we intend to adopt because they have the expertise on this. I don’t know yet the content (sic) of the matrix. MoA (memorandum of agreement) was discussed yesterday with reps (representatives) of BSP, FSPs (financial service providers or outlets) and DSWD,” Bautista said in a text message to the office of Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, to whom I referred the complaint by Starpay/USSC.

Here’s the Solomonic solution: Why not include Starpay/USSC in the distribution of SAP cash in Metro Manila?

DSWD and BSP can prove that there was no hocus-pocus in the choice of SAP distribution by also including Starpay/USSC.

The more outlets, the faster the distribution of cash to SAP beneficiaries.

Millions of Filipinos are hungry because they’re out of work as a result of the pandemic.

The suffering masses should be given immediate relief by employing as many private outlets as possible.

I doff my hat to Olongapo City Judge Richard Paradeza for dismissing the sedition charges against Zambales public school teacher Ronnel Mas, who said in his Twitter account that he would pay P50 million to anybody who would assassinate President Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte.

Paradeza showed independence of mind amid the popular clamor for Mas’ head.

I may not be happy with the verdict — netizens should be responsible for posting their opinions on the internet — but I respect Paradeza for his judicious decision.

The judge said Mas’ arrest by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents was illegal, as it was not covered by a warrant.

“A court does not acquire jurisdiction over the person of one who is illegally arrested and/or questions his/her arrest before arraignment,” Paradeza said.

Let Paradeza’s ruling be a lesson to NBI agents and policemen who arrest citizens without a warrant.

I wonder how many judges in the country have their own minds like Paradeza?

The decision of Baguio City prosecutors to file murder cases against three officers and seven cadets of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) for the hazing death of 4th Class Cadet Darwin Dormitorio last year is commendable but….

The three officers are doctors at the PMA Station Hospital while the seven cadets were Dormitorio’s upperclassmen.

I said commendable “but” because the Baguio prosecutors did not include former PMA superintendent Lt. Gen. Ronnie Evangelista and Brig. Gen. Bartolome Bacarro, PMA commandant.

The National Bureau of Investigation found that Evangelista and Bacarro tried to cover up the hazing of Dormitorio.

In doing so, Evangelista and Bacarro were complicit in the murder of Dormitorio.

If Evangelista and Bacarro had been included in the murder charge sheet, it would have sent a clear message to PMA higher-ups not to condone hazing under their noses.

Oh, well, Evangelista and Bacarro are probably graduates of the PMA. Could it be the reason why they looked the other way in the hazing death of Dormitorio?

They probably also experienced hazing when they were cadets.

Physical hazing is a bestial form of punishment of a cadet for an infraction.

The United States Military Academy at West Point, after which the PMA is patterned, did away with physical hazing — beating up a cadet — a long time ago.

Four policemen in Marikina accosted a DZBB Radio reporter for not asking permission from them when he made a live report of the traffic situation in a busy street in the city on Thursday, June 25.

“Dapat nagpaalam ka sa amin na magla-live coverage (You should ask permission from us to make a live coverage).”

Duh! Why would reporters ask permission from policemen to do a live coverage in a public place?

Well, what can you expect from our birdbrained policemen?

And to think that all our cops are college graduates!

I wonder what the criteria are for accepting candidates for the police service.

Beijing cancels flights, shuts schools over new virus outbreak

Beijing cancels flights, shuts schools over new virus outbreak

Beijing's airports cancelled more than 1,200 flights and schools in the Chinese capital were closed again on Wednesday as authorities rushed to contain a new coronavirus outbreak linked to a wholesale food market.
The city reported 31 new cases on Wednesday while officials urged residents not to leave Beijing, with fears growing about a second wave of infections in China, which had largely brought its outbreak under control.
Tens of thousands of people linked to the new Beijing virus cluster -- believed to have started in the sprawling Xinfadi wholesale food market -- are being tested, with almost 30 residential compounds in the city now under lockdown.
At least 1,255 scheduled flights were cancelled Wednesday morning, state-run People's Daily reported, nearly 70 percent of all trips to and from Beijing's main airports.

The outbreak had already forced authorities to announce a travel ban for residents of "medium- or high-risk" areas of the city, while requiring other residents to take nucleic acid tests in order to leave Beijing.

Meanwhile, several provinces were quarantining travellers from Beijing, where all schools -- which had mostly reopened -- have been ordered to close again and return to online classes.

"The epidemic situation in the capital is extremely severe," Beijing city spokesman Xu Hejian warned Tuesday.

Mass testing under way
Officials have closed 11 markets and disinfected thousands of food and beverage businesses in Beijing after the outbreak was detected.
The city has now reported 137 infections over the last six days, with six new asymptomatic cases and three suspected cases on Wednesday, according to the municipal health commission.

An additional two domestic cases, one in neighbouring Hebei province and another in Zhejiang, were reported by national authorities on Wednesday, while there were 11 imported cases.

Authorities have so far banned group sports, ordered people to wear masks in crowded enclosed spaces, and suspended inter-provincial group tours in response to the outbreak.

Officials said that since May 30, more than 200,000 people had visited Xinfadi market, which supplies more than 70 percent of Beijing's fruit and vegetables.

More than 8,000 workers there were tested and quarantined.

Until the new outbreak, most of China's recent cases were nationals returning from abroad as COVID-19 spread globally, and the government had all but declared victory against the disease.
China's Center for Disease Control and Prevention said Monday that the virus type found in the Beijing outbreak was a "major epidemic strain" in Europe.

Manila residents in standoff with cops

Manila residents in standoff with cops

A standoff ensued between residents of San Andres Bukid, Manila and the police on Friday after two watchlisted suspects were arrested with illegal drugs that the family claimed had been planted.

Saadudin Alawiya and Abdullah Maute were arrested in what the Manila Police District’s Ermita station called a drug bust at the suspects’ house.

Alawiya and Maute, however, claimed police broke down the door and barged into the house without a search warrant, in violation of the right to domicile, their relative, lawyer Dalomilang Paramihan, said yesterday.

“They wanted me to sign in the inventory. I said, I don’t want to legitimize your illegal act. If this is a buy-bust, you don’t need to break down the door. A police officer then called me a good-for-nothing lawyer,” Paramihan said.
Residents blocked the passageways after the suspects’ relatives claimed the 38 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu valued at P258,400 were planted.

In a Facebook Live video uploaded by Alyanhessa Mognie, residents were seen gathering and accusing the police of breaching the peace in their neighborhood.

They also accused the police of pointing their firearms at residents and children in the area.

“Wala na pong social distancing pasyensya na po. Pinagtatanggol lang namin kamag-anak namin (No more social distancing. We apologize. We are just defending our relative),” a resident was heard saying in the video.

“COVID daw kaaway ngayon, pero namumuhay kami ng payapa dito, ni-raid kami (COVID is the enemy, but we were living peacefully when we were raided),” another one said, referring to the coronavirus disease 2019.

Ermita police station chief Lt. Col. Ariel Caramoan stood by the legitimacy of the operation, adding that the police conducted pre-operations and coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for the sting.
“There wasn’t a standoff. Everything was settled when we talked with the Muslim leaders about the nature of the case,” he said.

Caramoan claimed the operation was held in the house after the suspects failed to appear at the agreed venue for the drug deal.

He warned residents that they may face charges of obstruction of justice for blocking the police after the sting.

One of the suspects, Maute, was cleared by the National Bureau of Investigation of being related to the terrorist group, Paramihan said.

Chinese Intelligence Officer Reveals True Magnitude of China’s Fake “Coronavirus” Crisis
For the good of the Chinese people, permission is hereby granted to copy, quote or reproduce this article in full or in part with the hope that these revelations will help to free the Chinese populace and the citizens of Hong Kong from the Evil that has befallen them.

WATCH THIS VIDEO!
I am a senior Chinese military intelligence officer and I know the truth about the “corona virus” outbreak.  It is far worse than the media are telling you.
I am a Chinese citizen in Wuhan who occupies — or perhaps occupied — a high-ranking position in military intelligence.  I am also a member of the Chinese Communist Party. As a senior official near the top of the Party, I have access to a great deal of classified information and I have been involved in many top secret government projects.  I have a doctorate from a leading university in a western country, which is why I am able to write my account in English.
I have information that I believe could lead to the overthrow of my government.  It is also relevant to billions of people outside of China, all of whom are now in existential peril.
It will not surprise you to hear that if my identity were to be revealed, my life would be in grave danger, as would those of my wife and son.  I ask you to respect the fact that I have stripped out of this account all facts that would make it easy to identify me.
By now you will be familiar with the recent outbreak of 2019-nCoV, also known as NCP, or simply “coronavirus”. You will have heard that it originated in Wuhan, an industrial city in China, and that it came from an animal — most likely a bat or a pangolin — that was sold in a wild animal market.  You will have been told that it is an influenza-like illness that can in severe cases cause pneumonia, respiratory failure and death.
Finally, you may have heard that although the disease is highly infectious, it is dangerous only to the elderly or to those who have a compromised immune system.  The official lethality rate is approximately  2% or so.
All of that is a bunch of lies concocted by the Chinese state with the tacit support of the U.S. deep state and its friends in the European Union, Russia and Australia, and spread by the docile media in all of those countries.
Let me start by telling you that the world does not operate the way you think it does. Although countries like the US and China vie for global dominance, that competition is restricted to certain limited areas.
In most ways, the two countries are more interested in cooperation so that they can stop other competing countries from gaining more power.  They also have a shared interest in keeping real power out of the hands of their “ordinary” citizens. To this end, they have many different mechanisms by which they control the overwhelming majority of their media outlets.  The Americans in particular have perfected the art of creating made-up “divisions” between their two main parties which are designed to hide the fact that both serve the same masters.
These same nations also posses technology that is far more advanced than you can imagine and which is kept carefully hidden from public view.  This includes advanced artificial intelligence capable of undermining and deciding any election in the world; biological and chemical agents( 生化剂) that can manipulate and control the thinking patterns and behaviours of citizens to terrifying degrees; highly sophisticated manipulation techniques using hypnotic practices entirely unknown to the public; and other things that I will not go into now.
*******
My point is that the great nations do not compete so much as work together. Their principal goal is to shield the true workings of the world from the “uninitiated” public.
Let me return to the virus.
Last year, large-scale anti-government protests erupted in Hong Kong.
The Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party considered these to be a grave threat to the integrity and stability of the motherland.  The U.S. government and the EU both knew that the Chinese were secretly working on a biological agent that was supposed to make the protesters docile and obedient.  Without going into detail, I worked on that project.  We tried to develop a sort of spray that could be dispersed from helicopters or drones and that would lead to mental retardation and behavioural change.
Naturally, as Hong Kong is one of the most open and international cities in the world, the Party decided that it was too risky to release the agent in Hong Kong without first testing it.  For this, it needed a great number of human guinea pigs. Two groups were identified for this.
First, we rounded up a large number of so-called “islamic radicals” in Xinjiang Province and took them to what we called “training camps.”
We had already been using these camps for human experimentation for several years, but the Hong Kong protests meant that we redoubled our efforts.  We exposed the inmates to various “alpha” experimental agents.  As these were odourless and invisible, the subjects were not aware that they were taking part in medical trials.

Escape from Xinjiang:  Muslim Uighurs Speak of China Persecution

The resulting high rates of cancer, premature dementia, suicidal depression and death by organ failure could easily be suppressed, as the camps are located in very remote parts of our motherland.
Once the initial experiments had yielded a “beta” agent, it was transported to Hubei Province, where it was deployed in a special military testing facility outside the city of Wuhan.  This was not even a particularly well-kept secret: the existence of this facility has been reported in international news.  Even the fact that it is located close to the wild animal market is a known fact.
By then our President had already introduced a “social credit” system that allowed us to identify disloyal, counter-revolutionary and bourgeois elements in our society.  Using the social credit scores — which are taken from online activity, electronic shopping behaviour and reports from informers in civil society — we selected some of the worst offenders.  These included human rights lawyers and activists, Christians, homosexuals, artists, intellectuals, people who speak foreign languages, and other undesirables.
Once these troublemakers had been collected and placed in the testing facility, we exposed them to the Agent, which is biochemical in nature and spread in an invisible aerosol, akin to certain viruses.  Initial results were encouraging, as we saw significant cognitive decline and reduction in higher mental processing facilities.  Essentially, our undesirables were becoming mildly mentally disabled, which is precisely the effect we wanted to produce in order to pacify the restive population of Hong Kong.
Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that the Agent also had other effects. About one week after the retardation set in, our subjects developed major anxiety and panic attacks.  Eventually they developed symptoms akin to those of paranoid schizophrenics.  At that point, their bodies rapidly deteriorated.  They developed massive internal bleeding; the walls of their arteries dissolved; they bled out of their eyes and orifices, and their tissue disintegrated.
To put it in a more direct Western manner, they started to melt.
Death usually occurred through multiple organ failure.  This was preceded by at least five days of severe agony which could not be alleviated by painkillers.  It was at this time that I first violated our protocol: one subject, an elderly lady who had published defamatory cartoons of our President, begged me for death with such insistence that I took pity and shot her.  I was reprimanded, but fortunately the complaint was dropped when I agreed to reimburse the cost of the bullet. I swore to myself never again to show such unnecessary emotion.
We decided that our Agent was unusable.  It was far too destructive for our purposes.  We wanted the population of Hong Kong to submit to us; we did not want to exterminate it.
Naturally, our American friends had by then taken an interest in our work and asked us for a sample for their own research and testing purposes.  They hinted that they wished to use it to resolve certain difficulties in Venezuela.  Normally we would have agreed, as we maintain friendly relations with the CIA, but given the extremely toxic nature of the Agent, we declined.
This, as it turned out, was a grave mistake.  The CIA was convinced that we had developed something very powerful and wanted to keep it to ourselves.  They offered a great deal of money to one of our researchers.
Foolishly, he agreed to sell them a specimen.  We found out just in time for the handover and tried to stop it from happening.  In the ensuing shoot-out — don’t bother to look for it in the news, it was never reported anywhere — several dozen people were killed.
More importantly, however, the Agent escaped!
The shoot-out took place at the wild animal market, which has been reported as the location of the “animal-to-human” transmission that started the outbreak.  But, of course, there was no such transmission; it was just the location where the CIA was supposed to receive the sealed vial containing the Agent.  The vial shattered when it was dropped by the traitor who had agreed to sell it to the Americans.
By now I understand you will be sceptical.  If I really am who I say I am, why would I be sharing this information on the internet?
Let me assure you that I am no friend of the Western system of governance. I love my motherland and I am loyal to the Communist Party.  It has lifted hundreds of millions of my compatriots out of squalor and poverty.  However, I am also a human being and I have a conscience.
Most importantly, I have a wife and a son.
Once we realised that the Agent had escaped and would start to spread, we swiftly put all of Wuhan into lockdown. I was one of those tasked to manage the fallout of the contamination.
Of course, we could not keep such a huge undertaking secret, so we decided to order our state media to report that a “coronavirus” had broken out in Wuhan.

Loading...
In reality, of course, there is no “coronavirus”. It was all made up.
It was one of my colleagues who came up with the genius idea of pretending that people with the common flu suffered from the coronavirus. This allowed us to hide the true nature of the disease. Let me explain.
It is currently flu season in China. When we realised that we could no longer control the spread of the Agent, we sent our men to all the hospitals and instructed all doctors to diagnose every case of the common flu as “coronavirus”. We came up with a new name — 2019-nCoV — and handed out “factsheets” that described a made-up illness.
The result of this decision was that tens of thousands of individuals who were simply suffering from a cold or flu were now diagnosed as having a mysterious coronavirus that, although infectious, was not often lethal.  While this frightened the public, it allowed us to push the narrative that the disease was not that deadly; it also gave us time to prepare for the catastrophe that was sure to come by imposing a lockdown on Wuhan and other cities in Hubei Province.
You have not heard this in the news — and given the size of Wuhan, with its population of 11 million, it is not known even to many of the residents — but within days thousands upon thousands were infected and before long they suffered the agonising deaths that I have already described.
Within a week, there were so many corpses that we did not know what to do with them, so we ordered the surviving social credit prisoners to drive the bodies into the countryside and bury them in mass graves.
But it was very difficult to keep this activity secret, and we could not even keep up as there were so many corpses.

We planted a story that five million residents had “fled” Wuhan.  In reality, of course, many of those people had died from the Agent.
I was working around the clock helping to orchestrate this cover-up.  When I think back to my actions now, I feel great shame.  At the time I still believed that I was fighting for my motherland and that the rule of the Party was right and just. But deep down, I had already begun to have doubts.
My faith in the Party was shaken even more deeply when I learnt what had happened to Dr Li Wenliang.

Whistleblower who was confronted by police becomes latest victim of deadly outbreak

Dr Li Wenliang was one of the few doctors who refused falsely to diagnose flu patients with the “coronavirus”.  As a punishment, he was sent to help transport dead bodies to mass graves.  The expectation was that he would be infected with the Agent and die an agonising death, but to our great surprise, he did not contract the illness.
You have of course read that he died of “coronavirus.”  You have been misinformed.  A sergeant of the People’s Armed Police injected him with a mixture of heroin and mercury that caused his lungs to deflate.
When I found out about this I became unsure whether or not I was doing the right thing.  While I believe that it is appropriate for a government to rule with a severe hand, I do not think that it was right to kill Dr Li.  He was a compassionate and kind man and he cared about his patients; how can our motherland not benefit from having such a doctor?
I shared my concerns with my wife, but she convinced me that I should not say anything to my superiors.  She said that it was too dangerous; that they valued loyalty above everything else; and that I would only find trouble if I admitted to my doubts about their practices.  She also pointed out that we benefited from priority medical treatment.  As senior officials, we received regular supplies of the highly-sophisticated hazmat masks that are the only known technology that can prevent infection.   She implored me to think of our son, who is still small.  If I spoke out and were caught, our lives would be at risk.
Around the same time, it became clear that the Agent was entirely beyond our control.  It was spreading like wildfire throughout Hubei Province and beyond, infecting tens of millions and causing them all to die.
I understand that what I just said is difficult to believe, because you have been told that there have been only about 50,000 infections, and far fewer deaths.
But these are the influenza infections that have been falsely passed off as the non-existent “coronavirus.”  The Agent is far, far more contagious than that, and its fatality rate, unlike the “coronavirus”, is not 2%.
No, its fatality rate is 100%.  Nobody recovers from it.  Everybody who contracts it dies.
And a lot of people are contracting it.
Hubei Province lies in ruins. The various travel restrictions and lockdowns that have been imposed were not created to stop the spread of the Agent — none of them can stop it, not embargoes, not face masks or hand sanitiser — but to stop the survivors from seeing the catastrophe with their own eyes.
